Ashwamegha Yagya Kunda, Jagatgram

Around 1-5 century AD, there was a kingdom consisting of the present Sarsawa, Haripur, Vikas Nagar and probably upto Lakhamandal. It's capital was presumably Haripur, where a few ancient buildings are reported to be present. It was ruled by a clan of Vermans. It reached its peak under "Sil verman" king, who to prove his power in 3AD performed 4 rituals of horse sacrifice, known as ashwamegha Yagya. Three of these sites have been uncovered, the fourth is still to be found.
To reach it, one has to turn right from Banwala, which is around 6kms from Vikas Nagar. You will find ASI boards about the site on the main Kalsi road itself. About a kilometer on this road and you have to turn into a narrow road on your right, again the ASI board is prominently displayed. This road ends after a few hundred meters from where you have to walk through a tall gate into an Mango orchard. Inside the orchard, the boundary of this site is seen on your left.
