Known as Mini Switzerland in India, Khajjiar is a beautiful meadow about 45 mins drive away from Dalhousie. The meadow is fully surrounded by a dense pine forest and is an ideal place for a picnic lunch. Khajjiar has a number of good hotels, which can easily be searched on the net. One nice quite guest house we stumbled upon, because it started to rain, was Gautam Guest House, Khajjiar. It has 9 clean but basic rooms ranging from INR 550/- for a double room to INR 850/- for a family room. It's owner Arun Gautam seemed a nice man.
